FROM RIDES TO RIBBONS: ENJOY THE BEST OF SPOKANE COUNTY INTERSTATE FAIR

As Spokane Valley basks in the late summer warmth, an annual tradition welcomes the early whispers of fall: the Spokane County Interstate Fair. This vibrant ten-day festival bridges the seasons with a celebration of community spirit.

The fair has blossomed into one of the Inland Northwest’s largest and most anticipated events from its humble roots in honoring the region’s rich agricultural heritage. Bringing together the best of our community, the fair offers a diverse range of attractions–from exhilarating rides and live entertainment to 4-H livestock shows, artisanal crafts, and global cuisines.

This year’s fair celebrates under the banner, The World is a Fair, in honor of the 50th Anniversary of Expo ’74, Spokane’s pioneering environmentally themed world’s fair. To commemorate this milestone, the fair introduces the World Market, a colorful new space brimming with global artisan crafts, diverse performances, fresh fruits, and a spectrum of ethnically diverse foods.

The fair, which runs from September 6 to 15, is a must-visit for all ages. Gates are open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, closing a bit earlier at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. On Fridays and Saturdays, the excitement continues until 10:30 p.m., with gates opening earlier on weekends at 10 a.m.

Secure your savings with pre-fair discounted tickets, on sale until September 5th. Tickets for adults ages 14-64 are priced at $10 for a one-day entry, while tickets for youth ages 7 to 13, seniors 65+, and military personnel are available for just $7. Children 6 and under enjoy free admission. Tickets can be easily purchased online at TicketsWest.com

The Spokane County Interstate Fair also features designated appreciation days with free admission for various community members:

  • Monday, September 9—Senior Day: For seniors aged 55+, the fair rolls out the red carpet with games and activities at the North Lawn Pavilion from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. that prove age is just a number!
  • Wednesday, September 11—Heroes Day: Military personnel, law enforcement officers, firefighters, hospital staff, and first responders. The fair tips its hat to these everyday superheroes by offering a well-deserved day of complimentary fun. Capes are optional but highly encouraged.
  • Sunday, September 15—School Staff Day: K-12 and college staff from public and private schools. It’s a celebration of those who educate and nurture, offering them a break from lesson plans and grading for a day of laughter and recreation with loved ones—no hall passes required! On September 15, kids 13 and under can attend the fair for free—just donate a new or gently used coat and receive a complimentary ticket. This will bring warmth to hearts and bodies as the weather cools.

Whether you’re seeking thrills or simple pleasures, the fair is your perfect send-off to summer. It’s a beloved tradition that captures the heart and soul of our community. Step into the scene to feel its lively spirit and see firsthand what makes our region’s culture and community so special.
